The Golden State Warriors got off to a slow start to the 2020-21 season. The setback took place in the offseason when Klay Thompson once again tore his Achilles during a workout. However, thanks to Steph Curry having a historic year, Golden State has made a late-season run that could land them in the playoffs or at the very least in the play-in tournament.

The Golden State Warriors will continue to ride Steph Curry in a record-breaking month of April

Just when you thought Curry couldn’t be any more amazing on the court, he continues to impress the NBA world when he made history on Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. By connecting on a fourth-quarter 3-pointer, Curry rewrote history when he logged in 30-plus points for the 11th consecutive game. A record previously set by NBA legend Kobe Bryant back in 2012 by a player age 33 or older.

So far through 10 games in April, Curry is logging in 40.8 points per game on .556/.508/.910 shooting splits. Curry has also made a record 72 3-pointers in the same 10 game span and has connected on 10-plus 3’s in four out of the last five games. Furthermore, while no other player has done so more than five times in their career, Curry has done so in six games just this season and 21 over the course of his 12-year career.

Although this season hasn’t gone as planned for Golden State, Curry has still put on a show for the fans. Curry’s led the Warriors to a 29-29 record all while slowly climbing up the conference at just the right time. He’s averaging a league-high 31.4 points per game this season and has scored a total of 1,570 points en route to what could be his second scoring title.

"“This season’s required something a little bit different. I’m trying to meet that moment. It’s a fun brand of basketball; just trying to put wins together with it. And I have supreme confidence; I’ve been blessed with a very special skill set that I’m trying to continue to master and hone and get better at. And that’s showing, the work is showing, so I’m trying to obviously sustain that for this season, because it’s required for us to get to where we want to go.” – Stephen Curry, via Nick Friedell of ESPN"

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has won three championships with Curry and is in pure amazement at what he’s seeing Curry do during this historic run through April. For the most part, Curry has kept the Warriors alive all on his own this season. And despite the team’s record, there is a solid opportunity for Curry to win his third league MVP award.

"“I’ve seen Kobe Bryant early in his career have a stretch where he went nuts. And obviously, Michael Jordan had some stretches where he just scored like crazy. But obviously, nobody has ever shot the ball like this in the history of the game. And even by Steph’s own lofty standards, this is above and beyond.“Twenty-one career games with 10 or more 3‘s. And Klay [Thompson] is second with five. And Steph’s had four in the last five [games]. Mind-boggling. Mind-boggling stuff.” – Steve Kerr, via Nick Friedell of ESPN"

The Golden State Warriors will only go as far as Steph Curry can take them. And with only 14 games left in the season, it’s going to be challenging for the Warriors to set themselves apart in a tight Western Conference. The Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, and the Portland Trail Blazers all have a better record than the Warriors by only a few games.

Curry and the Warriors will look to build off of his momentum from his previous game on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards.
