The Houston Rockets have one of the worst seasons in their history. I am not just talking about the fact they have been a bad basketball team. They have lost their franchise player who they built everything around, James Harden.

It was not an easy start for the coaching career of Stephen Silas. He had Harden ignoring the NBA’s rules and turning up late to camp. He had PJ Tucker complaining about his contract value. Plus the Harden situation created huge amounts of dissent within the team.

The Rockets traded away Russell Westbrook before the season, getting John Wall in return. They also signed DeMarcus Cousins, eventually agreeing to part ways so that Cousins could pursue other opportunities after the power-shifting trade of James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets.

The Houston Rockets have had one of their worst seasons on record. Here are three goals for the Rockets down the stretch to get something out of the season.

The Rockets were put in an impossible situation when Harden created such a toxic environment between himself and the team. The team lost a lot of bargaining power when the rest of the NBA knew that they needed to move Harden.

However, the Rockets were able to leverage Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum, and Rodions Kurucs and eight future first-round draft picks in return for Harden. They then traded Oladipo away to the Miami Heat, looking towards their future, getting two players and two more draft picks.

The Rockets went into full rebuild mode when they had to trade Harden. They are stuck down the bottom of the standings but there is still a lot to be gained down the stretch. Here are three of those things.
