Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 goals for the rest of the NBA season
Minnesota Timberwolves goal No. 3: Assessment
As the Timberwolves have seven players under the age of 22, they are trying to make their way in the league. The Timberwolves need to take the remaining time of the season to assess what they have on their roster.
Part of that is seeing how each player is able to interact on the court with the pillars of the team Towns, Russell, and scoring sensation, Malik Beasley. It is imperative the Timberwolves surround these players with the right ancillary pieces.
Naz Reid has the looks of a long-term sixth man with his ability to shoot from deep, rebound, and mix it in the paint. His contract is not guaranteed for next season but surely it should be. Likewise, Jaylen Nowell’s contract is not guaranteed for next year.
Jarred Vanderbilt does not have a contract for next season, while veteran Ed Davis is also without a deal for next season. The Timberwolves are going to need to assess if they can use these players next season, particularly as they are going to add another elite talent, assuming their pick remains in the top three this season.
The remainder of the 2020-21 NBA season for the Minnesota Timberwolves needs to be about the future, rather than the now.
