After a whole ton of trade talk during the past few months, the New York Knicks decided to stay quiet on Trade Deadline day, or at least relatively quiet.

The only move the front office decided to go with, was a guard swap. To sum up, Austin Rivers got shipped to the OKC Thunder, while Terrance Ferguson completed his move to The Big Apple in a three-team trade.

When you add the previous trade that the Knicks did, which featured the return of Derrick Rose, those two seem like great moves to boost the team’s chances at making the playoffs this year, a scenario that’s looking more and more likely with each passing day.

The New York Knicks have been playing quality basketball this year. They currently have a record of 23-22 are occupying the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. For the first time in what seems like ages (probably because it is), New York Knicks fans are filled with joy.

Being just half a game behind the fourth-seeded Charlotte Hornets means that the Knicks could even end up avoiding the play-in tournament. At the beginning of the season, even the mention of the Knicks in the same sentence as the play-in tournament would’ve made you look like a fool.

The New York Knicks decided to go the silent way on Trade Deadline day, though there may be a few moves they should’ve actually pursued.

Even though the team is doing splendidly thus far, things are far from perfect. Yes, this squad is very exciting to watch and the core is amongst the most promising ones across the NBA. But is there really no need to search for areas for improvement?

With the latter stages of the season vastly approaching, not having made any moves will most likely turn out to be a great choice for the team’s chemistry. The real question is, is there enough firepower to make any noise in a potential postseason run?
