NBA Power Rankings Week 14: Trade deadline recap
By Corey Rausch
Last Week: Beat/OT Boston Celtics 132-126, Beat Oklahoma City Thunder 116-107, Lost to Utah Jazz 117-114, Lost to Utah Jazz 126-110
This Week: 3/29 at Houston Rockets, 3/31 vs. Utah Jazz, 4/2 vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
The only real move the Memphis Grizzlies made was to let Gorgui Dieng go via buyout. There was no trade to be made as the Grizzlies are well aware there is no understanding exactly what they are until Jaren Jackson Jr. finally returns to the court.
Until that point, they will likely continue to be fine and nothing more. Ja Morant is continuing to play like a star. Unfortunately for him the only Grizzly keeping up with him is Dillon Brooks. The team is still so young and inexperienced that establishing any sort of consistency while competing in the Western Conference is an impossible challenge.
The rest of the season is about monitoring development for the Grizzlies. They have 14 players on the roster who are 25 years of age or younger. There is absolutely no rush to be anything more than they are in this very moment. Get experience, battle every night and build a culture. Given the state of some of the teams at the lower end of the playoff picture that may be enough to get them there this season. The Grizzlies fight constantly, as evidenced by the overtime victory over the Boston Celtics and close loss to the Utah Jazz this week.
