The NBA trade deadline has come and gone. Overall there was much more action than expected and for a little bit the league seemed to be guessing about just what was happening. As the dust settled we learned that not everyone who had been rumored to finding a new place to play is actually on the move. Others came out of nowhere, creating another playoff contender out of nowhere.
As the race for the top (and bottom) of the standings intensifies teams around the league shook up their rosters at the NBA trade deadline.
Many experts will tell you there were few, if any, trades that will impact the race for the title this season. The Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets were essentially silent at the deadline. Be that as it may, there was plenty to take away from the trades that did and did not happen this week.
So the NBA power rankings this week will look back at the trade deadline and what it means for the team for the rest of this season and beyond. Whether it be fortifying the tanking plan, taking the step to their first post-season appearance in recent memory or gearing up to take a swing at the best many interesting moves went through on Thursday. The buyout market has also started to take shape, leading to additional roster shakeup and chances for the top teams to get even better.
