Underrated defender

LaMarcus Aldridge isn’t just versatile on the offensive side of the ball, he knows how to use his length and agility to bother forwards who are increasingly adept at playing on the perimeter. In today’s NBA, coaches are calling for a switch on ball screens even if it calls for a big-man to stay in front of a guard. Aldridge has the agility to meet the demands of a game that values quick feet and the ability to stop on a dime and slide in a different direction.

In 2006, while playing for the University of Texas, Aldridge was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of The Year. Yes, that was a long time ago, but instincts don’t fade away they only get stronger. Having come into the league with the ability to be an elite defender, Aldridge has remained above average and has shown the ability to come up with key stops when called upon.

The Milwaukee Bucks feature the reigning Defensive Player of The Year, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Coach Mike Budenholzer would salivate at the idea of putting a player with Aldridge’s combination of length, strength and agility in the front line alongside The Greek Freak. When Milwaukee compiled the best record in the NBA, they were known as the best defensive team in the league. With Aldridge in the lineup, they could restore that reputation.
