With the NBA trade deadline looming, the Orlando Magic find themselves in the unfamiliar position of actually being at the center of a lot of potential deals that could yet go down. This is far cry from the usual approach by the front office, which in years gone by has been to sit tight and hope for improvement from within.

Yet fans would do well to remember that the last time the organization did get involved in some deadline deals, it was to bring in point guard Markelle Fultz. To that end, that deal so far has been a resounding success, even if Fultz will still be gone for some time as a result of an ACL tear.

Chatter around the availability of Magic players began to heat up just before the All-Star break when franchise cornerstone Nikola Vucevic was brought up in a deal that could have seen him land with the Boston Celtics as a result of the large trade exception they currently have. Nothing happened, and the Vucevic talk died down, likely because of the asking price by the Magic.

As the NBA trade deadline nears, this is the year some big deals will go down for the Orlando Magic

A large section of Magic fans have wanted significant roster change for some time now, and with Aaron Gordon having formally asked to be traded back in February, it now looks like it is going to happen. He is not the only player who may be on the move though, although he seems like the most likely candidate at this point.

Evan Fournier’s name is coming up more frequently as the hours tick by because his current deal expires at the end of the year and he has the kind of offensive game that a franchise who knows they are going to make the playoffs could use. It seems likely the Magic are going to be sellers of talent as they look to move into a new era around their young guys, so here are three deals to consider.
