Plagued by injuries, COVID-19, and simply awful basketball, the Dallas Mavericks started the 2020-21 season off near the bottom of the standings.

They have been able to rebound from their gruesome start, winning nine of their last 13 games. Currently sitting at eighth place in the Western Conference standings with a 22-19 record, the Mavericks have started to figure things out, but there is still room for improvement if they will take that next step into title contention this season.

The Dallas Mavericks should make an aggressive push at the NBA trade deadline to bolster their contending chances this season.

Playing inconsistent basketball, rumors have been swirling around the Mavericks over the past few weeks as the NBA’s March 25 trade deadline grows closer. This team could undoubtedly use some reinforcements with a playoff berth hanging in the balance, and they will need to continue their recent stretch of success to remain in the race.

Owner Mark Cuban recently assured on an episode of ESPN’s First Take that he was not in panic mode with his team and quieted any speculation about the franchise moving Kristaps Porzingis, who had previously been rumored to be available.

It seems that Cuban is content with the current construction of his team, and that might make it another quiet trade deadline for Dallas. That is furthered by the fact that Dallas is short on assets to even potentially make an impactful move.

However, that has not stopped the team from being mentioned in a slew of trade rumors, and they could be planning something behind the scenes. With that being said, here is whether the Mavericks should pass on or pursue three rumored trade targets before March 25.
