JaVale McGee

It is time to face the truth about the situation for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Andre Drummond is not getting traded. Neither is Kevin Love. Their salaries are too tough to fit for any team reasonably trying to compete. Even better, Kevin Love’s contract runs too long. Larry Nance Jr. is more easily moved but he is an essential part of the Cavaliers’ defense. JaVale McGee, however, feels destined to find himself on another team one way or another over the next few weeks.

McGee is only playing 15.2 minutes per game this season, but he has been on three of the last four championship teams. He is considered one of the best teammates in the league and would be perfect for either the Los Angeles Lakers (where he spent the last two seasons) or the Brooklyn Nets should he be bought out.

He would likely play an even smaller role than he is playing now for the Cleveland Cavaliers but that sort of role goes much further for a team playing in the postseason. He can come in in case of an emergency and protect the rim in a pinch. The cost for most teams would likely be a backend second-round draft pick, making him worth a swing for many a team.
