Rodney Hood

If the Portland Trail Blazers are going to make a trade they will need some salary figure to make the money work. Rodney Hood is making $10.0 million this season and $10.8 million next season and is struggling to hold on to a rotation spot with the return of CJ McCollum.

Hood has been a solid rotation guard in past seasons but after suffering a torn Achilles in December of 2019 he has been slow to get back to form, as is to be expected. For a team looking to take a chance on him, betting on him slowly recovering over time and getting back to the player he once was is not out of the question. It just may not be in the same time frame that the Blazers need it to be.

Welcoming back McCollum and preparing to bring Jusuf Nurkic back in the coming weeks will cement the Blazers as a dangerous playoff team. Damian Lillard has kept the team afloat through late-game heroics combined with surprising efforts from Enes Kanter, Gary Trent Jr., Carmelo Anthony, Nassir Little and more. Pushing this last chip in to bolster their roster is a sign of good faith towards Damian Lillard. Relying on continued exhibitions of Dame Time is far from sustainable.
