Devonte’ Graham

The Charlotte Hornets are playing with house money, entering the era LaMelo Ball where they can start trying to add players to build around a franchise level star. Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward next to him have Charlotte playing like a lock to make at least the play-in tournament. So why move on from a guy who was almost named the Most Improved Player a season ago?

Devonte’ Graham is about to hit restricted free agency and thus is about to get much pricier. His level of shooting off the bench is the kind of hot commodity that gets guards paid in free agency and Graham has the chance to get a bag in a few short months. Unfortunately for him, given the emergence of the other guards on the Hornets, the opportunities are just not there for him as much as they were a season ago.

He is still shooting 36.3 percent on 7.7 3-point attempts per game, nothing to frown upon. He profiles as the perfect reserve shooter for a team looking for someone to spot up in the playoffs. For the Hornets going forward, the financial commitment will just have to be somewhere else. Perhaps on an actual center rotation?
