Denzel Valentine
After looking imminently ready to deal veterans Thaddeus Young about a week ago, the Chicago Bulls feel like a team ready to stand pat at the trade deadline. The clock may be ticking on Otto Porter Jr.’s time with the team but that would be a conversation more likely to be had via buyout given the onerousness of his large contract.
Given that the Bulls are one of the teams in the Eastern Conference lingering in the periphery of the play-in and the importance that holds for a team that has not made the postseason in a while, there is no reason to move on from Young. He has been really solid for them this season and would be missed. Denzel Valentine, on the other hand, continues to struggle to find a place.
Ever since an injury in 2018 led to him missing the entirety of the 2018-2019 season, Valentine has been inconsistent and his minutes have been the same. He is playing just 18.6 minutes per game this season thus far and is struggling to find his shot. Perhaps a change of scenery would benefit both parties. The return would be meager, but the Bulls are really only looking to add experience at this point. Making the postseason being led by Zach LaVine is the most important thing for Chicago.
