NBA Top Shot is the biggest new phenomenon, and getting a share of the action has been getting tougher with every drop. Over the last few months, even getting a common pack of Moments has come down to the luck of the draw, with tens or hundreds of thousands of users randomly pulled out of a queue for the opportunity to purchase a pack.

Even some of the bigger ticket packs have come down to random chance, with about 32,000 users selected out of a queue of over 100,000 to purchase a $199 drop on March 6th. However, NBA Top Shot users are about to get another chance at a set of Moments very soon indeed.

When is the next NBA Top Shot drop?

At 5PM EST on Thursday, March 18th, the next NBA Top Shot drop was scheduled to take place. This drop will feature Moments from the 2021 NBA All-Star Game, played less than two weeks ago, and considering the players who participated in that game, there’s plenty of potential for massive value if you’re able to get your hands on a pack.

However, due to what Dapper Labs (the company that runs the NBA Top Shot operation) described as “bot issues” they “worry would compromise the drop”, they have postponed things until Friday, March 19th. The new scheduled time for the All-Star Game drop is 12PM EST on Friday.

The packs in this drop are priced at $229, and 36,378 packs are available. This means you’ll need to queue up… well, whenever they tell you too, and cross your fingers that you’ll be in the lucky number.

To thin the herd a bit, you’ll need to own three Moments in your collection in order to qualify for selection. You can purchase individual Moments from the NBA Top Shot marketplace, but you’ll want to hustle and buy them quickly if you don’t already have three because in the last drop, the massive demand from users looking to purchase a Moment to qualify essentially crashed the marketplace.

Here are the details on this pack:

  • Own three Moments to qualify
  • $229 price
  • 36,378 packs will be available
  • Seven Moments are included in the pack, including six Base Set (Series 2) Moments and one rare 2021 All-Star Game (Series 2) Moment

The All-Star Game Moments are rare indeed. There are 20 Moments available, and only 2,021 of each will ever exist.

Given the fluid nature of the timeline surrounding this drop, check back on this post regularly for updates.
