The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a less than favorable season. With a dismal (and that truly is the only way to describe it) record of just 9-30, they are the league’s worst team in the loss category, and are likely looking forward to another year of a rebuild.

Of course, the plummet isn’t totally their fault. While the team didn’t want to use it as an excuse, not playing any sort of basketball for nearly a year (318 days to be exact) will certainly leave a team with a little rust. Add into that the massive roster changes that came to be right before the hiatus, as well as on NBA draft night, and the injuries to top stars such as Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell, and you’ve got a grade A recipe for a bad season.

The only benefit you’ll find in all of this is, at the moment, everything looks to be on track for the Wolves to keep their top-three overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Though, knowing this franchises history, they’ll find a way to lose that as well.

As with any team on a slipper downward spiral, trade rumors abound for the Timberwolves. Their name has been mentioned in a few trade stories this season, including weirdly enough James Harden, but so far nothing has really happened.

Thoughts on Minnesota Timberwolves trade rumors

Despite all of this, it’s a tradition as old as time itself for a number of major trades to happen on the last day or two of the trade deadline. As that time quickly approaches, it’s time to take a look at the rumors that the Minnesota Timberwolves are still involved in, and determine whether or not they would be an ultimate benefit to the team, or just another sign of an organization that is desperate for a successful rebuild.
