Trade No. 7: Kristaps Porzingis to the Golden State Warriors

So much has been said about a potential Kristaps Porzingis trade to the Golden State Warriors in the past few weeks, that we don’t know what to believe. However, usually, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Rumor has it that the Dallas Mavericks were the ones to approach the Warriors and try to work something out between the two sides. Mark Cuban, though, was quick to refute the allegations and that Porzingis was there to stay.

Mainly due to his 3-point shooting ability, Kristaps Porzingis would make a fine addition to the Warriors. He fits that stretch-four/stretch-five position better than Draymond Green and any past Warriors center ever has.

After earning All-Star honors in just his third season as a pro, most people anticipated Porzingis to turn into a superstar. Unfortunately, his progression has been halted. The Dallas Mavericks have not taken the next step after last season’s successful run and fingers are starting to be pointed.

Porzingis has not improved on his rebounding and is disappointingly average at it, being 7’3” and all. Playing with a superstar like Luka Doncic has limited his chances, and he does not seem to fit the team’s offense.

The Mavericks haven’t been doing bad at all, though much more was expected from a healthy partnership of Doncic and Porzingis. Maybe swapping him with Andrew Wiggins and some draft assets would be the wise thing to do.
