Should the Houston Rockets trade Victor Oladipo at the NBA trade deadline?

The Houston Rockets acquired Victor Oladipo from the Indiana Pacers in the four-team deal that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. He’s had some highs and lows so far this season with his new team, but on the aggregate, he has not been particularly good.

He’s scoring 20.5 points per game as a Rocket, but doing so while shooting 38.4 percent from the floor and 30.0 percent from 3-point range. It’s not exceptional efficiency.

Much like almost everybody on this team, Victor Oladipo’s eyes are set on his next destination rather than his current spot. He reportedly would like to sign with the Miami Heat in free agency and it’s likely that he would prefer to be traded there as well. Whether the Heat are a trade partner for the Rockets in an Oladipo trade or not, it would behoove Houston to move his expiring $21 million contract and get some value for him while they still can.

There’s no need for the Rockets to be picky. Just find a deal that reasonably satisfies all parties and get Oladipo moved on to his next destination, wheresoever on Earth that may be.
