Should the Houston Rockets pass or pursue P.J. Tucker NBA trade deadline rumors?

P.J. Tucker is a name that started popping up even before James Harden hit the road to the Brooklyn Nets. He’s not happy with his deal, he wants an extension (Athletic $$$), and the Rockets aren’t interested in providing him with one.

For about the 78th time this season for this team, things reached a boiling point this past week when Tucker decided not to play a game against the Sacramento Kings. It was the rare “DNP-Not Feeling It”, and it was decided that he would not remain with the team while the Rockets sought out a deal for him.

It’s safe to assume that Tucker will never play another minute for the Houston Rockets, and it’s time to ship him and his $7.9 million expiring contract anywhere they can get something in return for him. If that’s a second-round pick, call it a done deal and close the book on things.

P.J. Tucker had a good run with the Rockets, but those days are past. No longer is he a small-ball five on a team looking to compete with the elite in the Western Conference. Instead, he’s looking to the next chapter of his NBA career and the Rockets must do the same.
