NBA Week 12 Power Rankings: Questions for each team after the break
By Corey Rausch
Last Week: Lost to Charlotte Hornets 105-102, Lost to Brooklyn Nets
This Week: 3/15 vs. San Antonio Spurs, 3/17 vs. Toronto Raptors, 3/19 at Houston Rockets
Question: What will Killian Hayes look like when he returns to the lineup?
The Detroit Pistons are an increasingly new team. Blake Griffin signed with the Brooklyn Nets during the All-Star Break and Svi Mykhailiuk was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. Sekou Doumbouya, the 20-year-old second-year player, is now the longest-tenured Detroit Piston.
Beyond further possible roster movement, the biggest question for the Pistons for this season and beyond is what will Killian Hayes be. As the seventh overall pick, Hayes was projected to be the first step in the restoration of the Pistons. In his seven games played, Hayes did not look quite ready and then has been sidelined ever since with a hip injury. Pistons fans are eagerly awaiting an update on his health in the coming weeks.
Hayes showed flashes of the promise that saw him drafted so highly and time is what is needed to get him to realize that potential. Many players have developed under Dwane Casey this season and Hayes should be the best of the bunch. Skeptics are already making their voices heard about his potential and only on-court production can change that. It also would not hurt to see something from Hayes before heading into another big draft.
