Question: What is actually going on with Anthony Davis?

It has become commonplace to assume that no matter what happens throughout the regular season, as long as LeBron James is healthy at the end of it, his team has the best chance to win it all. This season seemed to be no different until the injury to Anthony Davis. While the Los Angeles Lakers play coy with the exact nature of the injury, any time the Achilles is involved there will always be concerns.

The Lakers have certainly not been the same with their second star out of the lineup. When Davis last played on Feb. 14 the Lakers had the second-best record in the league, only 1.5 games behind the Utah Jazz. They were seventh in the league in rebounds per game, second in blocks per game, 10th in offensive rating and first in defensive rating by almost two full points (105.1 to Utah’s 107.0).

Over the last month, things have changed. The Lakers have lost six of their last 10 games and have dropped to 11th in rebounds per game, tied for second in blocks per game, 22nd in offensive rating and seventh in defensive rating. They will need Anthony Davis back to realize their potential. Not knowing what is going on is troublesome but ultimately as long as he is back the worries will be misplaced.
