The Detroit Pistons have been active in the trade market since the start of the 2020-21 offseason, and this month’s NBA trade deadline may be no different. General manager Troy Weaver made swift work of remaking the roster, leaving only four returning players from last season by the time the season opened.

Since then, three of those players, Blake Griffin, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Derrick Rose, have departed via buyout and trade respectively. Now, only one player remains from last season’s suspended campaign; Sekou Doumbouya.

Should the Pistons pass or pursue these NBA trade deadline rumors?

Any team that has been so very active in the trade market can expect to be involved in the rumor mill as the deadline nears. Whether it be because they’re actually in talks for deals or just fit the profile of a team that would be in the mix, you can expect the Pistons to get mentioned plenty.

There’s already been some buzz surrounding them, and we’re going to parse through the noise and figure out which of these rumors the Detroit Pistons should pass on or pursue. They fully intend to build a contending team under Weaver’s administration, so the decisions he makes at this deadline could be critical towards that goal.

For the first time in a long time, the Pistons have both a desirable star and a core of rookies with plenty of potential, so they find themselves in a unique and perhaps even powerful position. So without further ado, let’s take a look at four NBA trade deadline rumors and decide on a course of action.
