The time has come for the Chicago Bulls to trade Otto Porter Jr.

Most Bulls fans would be sad to see Otto Porter go, and for good reason. He’s an athletic 6’8″ forward whose capable of the occasional 30 point explosion. The optimistic segment of fans in the Windy City would point to his performance just one week after becoming a Bull via a trade with the Washington Wizards. On that cold February night in 2019, Porter scored a career-high 37 points in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies. Porter remained solid, averaging 17.5 points per game during his time as a Bull to finish the season.

Unfortunately, Porter’s finish to the 2019 season has been the highlight of his tenure in Chicago. He’s missed significant portions of the last two seasons due to injury. At times, he has shown flashes of the promising skill set that was evident upon his arrival in the Windy City. In other instances, he’s played like an “also-ran.” With the team being in striking distance of the playoffs for the first time in years, the front office has to consider which players are part of the long-term plan.

It’s time for the Chicago Bulls to trade Otto Porter Jr.

Now is the time for executive vice president Arturas Karnisovas to capitalize on Porter’s market value. Let’s take a closer look at why Chicago needs to be proactive in making a deal for the former Georgetown Hoya.
