Pistons: Killian Hayes’ return and 4 things to watch in the second half
By Duncan Smith
2. What’s going to happen at the NBA trade deadline?
The Pistons have been the most active team in the trade market since the offseason began in November. They have turned over almost the entire roster via trade (and a Blake Griffin buyout) and only Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Sekou Doumbouya remain from last year’s team. With the NBA trade deadline looming in a couple of weeks, there are some likely candidates to get moved.
Mykhailiuk and Doumbouya are trade possibilities as we’ve seen that there’s nothing sacred among the players who were in Detroit before Weaver’s administration began, but Delon Wright is the likely favorite to get moved to a contender. And of course, we’ve learned to never rule out a surprise trade or two on this team.
1. Jerami Grant’s second half
Jerami Grant got off to an incredible start for the Pistons this season before tailing off a bit over the past few weeks. He shouldered a load unlike anything he ever had to handle in his previous stops with the Denver Nuggets, the OKC Thunder and the Philadelphia 76ers, and he’s struggled to maintain his production with consistency.
Mind you, he’s also had his best three or four games of the season in this stretch, so maybe that consistency can return after this much-needed break he’s gotten. After some rest and relaxation, we’ll see what kind of heights Jerami Grant can return to once the Pistons get back in action on Thursday night.
