NBA Power Rankings Week 11: All-Star break edition
By Corey Rausch
Last Week: Lost to Los Angeles Lakers 117-91, Lost to Portland Trail Blazers 108-106, Lost to Phoenix Suns 120-98
This Week: 3/11 at LA Clippers
This was a rough week for the Golden State Warriors. They have lost three in a row and split their last 10 games. The depth is starting to take a toll on the starters and securing wins is only going to get increasingly more challenging.
Stephen Curry has been unbelievable this season, averaging 29.8 points (fourth in the league), 6.3 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game on shooting splits of .478/.411/.934. He is playing at an MVP level for a team hanging on to the fringes of the playoffs. Draymond Green is maligned for being a scoring non-threat but he is averaging 8.6 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He is running the offense for the team effectively.
Under the radar, the Golden State Warriors are up to their old tricks defensively, currently sixth in defensive rating. Adding Juan Toscano-Anderson, Brad Wanamaker, Kent Bazemore and Mychal Mulder has helped.
The Warriors are unlikely to make any major moves heading into the trade deadline. They are capped out and essentially planning for who should be in the rotation next season when Klay Thompson returns. No team will have their fingers crossed more on draft lottery night as they have the rights to the Minnesota Timberwolves draft choice should it fall outside of the top four.
