Rumored trade target No. 3: Andre Drummond

At this point, it’s pretty much official. Andre Drummond and the Cleveland Cavaliers will soon be parting ways, as the team searches for the best possible return in a trade.

This is an experiment that didn’t work out, though they didn’t give it enough time. After appearing in just 33 games in a Cavaliers uniform, averaging 17.5 points and 12.9 rebounds per game, it was clear enough that Drummond will not be taking part in Cleveland’s rebuild.

Down a center due to the right hand injury of Mitchell Robinson, other Knicks centers were called to step up. Unfortunately, Taj Gibson was quick ti pick up an ankle injury, leaving Nerlens Noel to fend for himself.

Noel instantly elevated his level of play and has played a major role in New York’s success during these past few weeks. Then again, he is only one human being and is carrying an injury history with him as well.

The New York Knicks need to make a trade for a center ASAP. With so many names on the market, though, it is very easy to write Drummond’s name off the board, due to his hefty contract.

Despite him being one of the league’s top centers, Drummond is a huge commitment. The Knicks would be giving away assets for the future, either as a one-year rental in Drummond, or as a huge salary on the books for the next few years, should they re-sign him in free agency.

Verdict: Pass on Andre Drummond
