Rumored trade target No. 5: Lonzo Ball
Kicking off this list with one of the most hyped collegiate prospects of all time, Lonzo Ball was quick to take the media by storm during his UCLA days. His outstanding performances were enough to convince the Los Angeles Lakers to select him with the second overall pick in the draft.
About four years into his NBA career, one can say with confidence that Lonzo has just been unlucky. From LeBron James all the way to Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, he’s always been surrounded by ball-dominant players that held him back.
As a result, due to his expiring contract (RFA), he is now amongst the hottest trade rumors around the league. Ball would fit into any team with a point guard void, making the New York Knicks a great trade candidate.
He might be in the shadow of his brother, who is taking the league by storm and running away with the Rookie of the Year award, though no one can deny Lonzo his immense arsenal. Defensively and offensively, he’s got everything you want in a starting point guard.
The thing is, a month ago Lonzo would’ve made perfect sense for the Knicks to pursue. But given the unexpectedly superb performances by rookie Immanuel Quickley and the recent acquisition of Derrick Rose, is there any need for Lonzo?
Verdict: Pass on Lonzo Ball
