With three weeks left until the 2021 NBA Trade Deadline on March 25, the New York Knicks are already off the books. They moved faster than their opponents and were able to snatch Derrick Rose at a discount price, an addition that has been sublime so far.

Then again, whether the Knicks are within playoff reach or not, it seems like they never quite escape the trade talk. Being a big market team and all, reporters all around the world are quick to link the name of any unsettled player to the New York Knicks.

This year’s trade deadline period has the potential to be one for the ages. With countless stars on the trade block, the league is bound to be entirely different come April. These stars have the firepower to even shift the momentum of a franchise and lead to unexpected title frontrunners.

New York’s October reluctance to overpay any mediocre free agents has led to the team currently being very flexible when it comes to finances. As a result, they can take on mich larger contracts that they have to send away. The question is, should they?

With numerous trade targets suitable for the New York Knicks, some appear to be ideal for the team, while others are really not needed.

Exactly halfway through the season, the New York Knicks are doing a terrific job and have climbed all the way to the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference. Additionally, they have matched the record of that historic 1998-99 team that made it all the way to the NBA Finals.

Things are currently running smoothly in New York under the leadership of Tom Thibodeau. A first All-Star nod for Julius Randle has brought even more happiness amongst Knicks fans, who were beginning to forget what that word meant.

Consequently, according to the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, going all out to make a big trade isn’t really an imperative need at the moment. But then again, even the best of ’em could use some improvement.
