Trade No. 8: Lonzo Ball to the Chicago Bulls
The New Orleans Pelicans are yet another underachieving team that, as of today, have a very small chance of making a postseason run. Despite the free agency acquisitions of Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe, as well as a full season of a healthy Zion Williamson, the team has tanked.
The Pelicans have a front office battleship in David Griffin, a person who is prone to making major trades. As a result, for an underperforming team such as the Pelicans, very few players are safe.
One of these players definitely isn’t Lonzo Ball who, after four seasons in the league, still hasn’t found the correct place to call home. He is having a career year in New Orleans, though is and will continue to be in the shadow of his All-Star teammates.
Eric Bledsoe can confidently slide into the starting point guard spot if the Pelicans were to trade Lonzo Ball away. In that case, Lonzo would fit in perfectly on a roster with a big point guard void, like the Orlando Magic or the Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, the Chicago Bulls might be the perfect destination for him. Creating a dynamic duo with Zach LaVine to bring a new era of lob city to Chicago could bring the same level of excitement that Chicago fans have gotten used to all these decades.
