Trade No. 2: Zach LaVine to the New York Knicks

The 2020-21 New York Knicks have been a revelation. They currently hold a record of 18-18, marking it their best start since the good old times in 2012-13. Confidently within a playoff spot, we might be seeing Madison Square Garden in action come playoff time this season.

  • However incredible the Knicks have been defensively thus far, they do seem to need a closer. And what better person to close your games than Zach Lavine, the league’s seventh-leading scorer at 28.5 points per game?

Despite being the league’s top defensive team, the Knicks aren’t doing so well on offense. In fact, they’re sitting second-last in the entire NBA, something rather concerning for the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference.

A player like LaVine could help take New York’s offense to the next level, being the incredibly capable iso-scorer that he is. His previous positive experience with coach TomThibodeau would help make the transition even smoother.

The Chicago Bulls are within playoff reach, though LaVine’s out-of-this-world performances might not be enough to get them over the top without any help. The Knicks have enough young pieces to entice the Bulls into accepting a hypothetical trade offer in a heartbeat.
