If there was any doubt from a week ago, the tank is fully on for the Houston Rockets. They have lost 10 games in a row, no one seems to be in the lineup frequently enough to make a noticeable impact and they are starting to move on from the few veterans they do have.
The tank will be important because the Rockets lose their pick if it is outside the top four. For a team quickly transitioning out of their star-laden era, keeping this specific pick in this draft is essential. Luckily, the injury to Christian Wood and the overall volatility of the roster seem to make this reality possible.
DeMarcus Cousins is the first veteran to find his way out into the open. He is, unfortunately, the least likely to find a reasonable roster spot elsewhere. Averaging career lows across the board is not exactly the way to prove you are back from several devastating injuries. So far Cousins is averaging 9.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game with shooting splits of .376/.336/.746. Cousins is not a good defender and does not offer floor spacing. If he is going to make less than half his shots inside the arc as well (currently 42.6 percent), time may be up for Boogie.
