If you are not enjoying this Golden State Warriors season, then present day basketball is not for you. The way that Draymond Green is running the offense is a thing of beauty and unlocks a new level for the Warriors. Welcoming back James Wiseman (and to a lesser extent Kevon Looney) does not hurt either.
Let’s start with the obvious: Stephen Curry is a walking bucket. He averaged 30.0 points a night and while his 3-point shooting was not up his normal efficiency, that is understandable when coming back from the health and safety layoff. Even with the shooting percentages of a normal player, Curry is still a wizard.
Then there is Draymond Green. Casuals want to make jokes because he tends to average low double figures in scoring (10.0 points per game this week) but adding in 14.0 assists, 10.0 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks a night is unbelievable. He runs the entirety of the offense and opens up the floor for players who rely on one his creation to excel.
It is impossible to not imagine what this team would be like with Klay Thompson on the court. The offense is starting to click and the Warriors are boasting an elite defense under the radar. Currently ranked fourth in defensive rating, the Warriors are coalescing into a contender even without their second-best player.
