NBA Week 10 Power Rankings: All-Star Snub Edition
By Corey Rausch
The story of the week was the All-Star reserves being announced. Fans love to debate who makes the list and who the snubs are. For reference the All-Star reserves were:
Eastern Conference: Jaylen Brown, James Harden, Zach LaVine, Julius Randle, Ben Simmons, Jayson Tatum, Nikola Vucevic and Domantas Sabonis (injury replacement)
Western Conference: Anthony Davis, Paul George, Rudy Gobert, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Chris Paul, Zion Williamson and Devin Booker (injury replacement)
The All-Star class is loaded this season but that has not made it any less ripe for debate who the snubs are. Before getting into the power rankings for the week we will make the case for some of the more notable snubs.
Week 10 of the NBA season was about who made the All-Star game and who did not. What a week it was for the greatest in the game.
Tobias Harris is having the best season of his career (as his dad is more than happy to tell the media) and was the victim of playing on a team with two other All-Stars, potentially blocking his path. Khris Middleton is the definition of efficiency and was likely penalized by a bad week at the worst possible time. The Toronto Raptors should have had an All-Star but the team is run by team effort over individual performance so making the case for one over another is a real challenge. Ditto for the San Antonio Spurs (even as DeMar DeRozan separates himself). Trae Young, Collin Sexton, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander and De’Aaron Fox suffer from playing the most loaded position in the league.
Then there is Mike Conley. If any team deserved three All-Stars this season it was the Utah Jazz (all due respect to the Brooklyn Nets trio of deserving stars). Conley is an advanced stat darling and is thriving in his second year with his new team. The fact that Mike Conley has never made an All-Star appearance is criminal. Fingers crossed that another injury slot opens up.
Now, let’s start the Week 10 Power Rankings.
