DeMarcus Cousins could be reunited with a former teammate

The great Bo Jackson once said, “If I miss anything about the sport, it’s the camaraderie of old teammates.”

Seeing a familiar face when walking into a new locker room for the first time can be reassuring for any player. The Chicago Bulls’ roster boasts a former teammate from DeMarcus Cousins’ heyday, Garrett Temple. The two of them played together in Sacramento during the 2017 season. This was before Cousins suffered the first of three season-ending injuries. He was still as strong as an ox, but his footwork and skill set were what set him apart. Simply put, he was the best big man in the league.

One of the most important components of applying for a job is having good references. Having witnessed it first hand, Garrett Temple can relay countless stories of DeMarcus’ exploits to head coach Billy Donovan. Sure Chicago already has Cousins’ resume, which includes multiple All-Star selections, but a first-hand account of just how good the big man is could light a fire under the organization to actively pursue him.

While Cousins a Temple reunion wouldn’t live up to Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden reuniting to win another World Series together, it would be great for Bulls fans. DeMarcus Cousins is a wiley veteran whose body has betrayed him. He still knows the tricks of the trade. A high IQ player capable of the occasional flashback to his All-Star days could be exactly what the Chicago Bulls young roster needs.
