Trade candidate No. 6: Kevin Love

Once a bona fide superstar in the league, it seems like it’s been too long since we last saw prime Kevin Love in action. Even though age is starting to get to him, his skill set is one that requires very little athletic capabilities.

Love originally left his Minnesota Timberwolves self behind, in pursuit of a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite winning the ultimate prize in 2016, he would never quite make it back to the level he demonstrated with the Wolves.

He is now the only member of the 2016 championship-winning squad that’s left in Cleveland (along with Matthew Dellavedova who left and then came back), making him the longest-tenured Cavalier at the moment. Still, it seems like Love has been left behind in Cleveland.

Despite not being at an All-Star level as we speak, no one should doubt his abilities and the things he can do for a team in today’s fast-paced spacing game. At the age of 32, Kevin Love can still be a viable third scoring option in a contending team.

The downside of his situation is the enormously large contract that he will be carrying around with him, up until the summer of 2023. Earning approximately $30 million annually, trading for Love is easier said than done.

At the end of the day, any team in need of a power forward that has the financial flexibility to trade for K-Love should do so. A quick look at the Cavaliers dynasty highlight reel should steer them in that direction.
