Ladies and gentlemen, we’re slowly but steadily approaching perhaps the most exciting time of the season, the NBA Trade Deadline.
With a few minor trades already off the books, including a blockbuster one that saw James Harden move to the Brooklyn Nets to form a superteam, the 2021 trade deadline has the potential to be one for the historians.
Quite simply, the names involved in the recent nonstop trade talk are too big to not feel excited about this specific period. Superstars, All-Stars and young upcoming stars are amongst the many names that have been thrown out there. Usually, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Additionally, the buyout market seems to be more active than ever. After the recent buyout of DeMarcus Cousins by the Houston Rockets, it seems more and more likely that the storm has just begun, with the likes of Blake Griffin and George Hill to follow.
Due to the delayed tip-off to the season, this year’s trade deadline has been pushed back to March 25, 2021. This gives teams up to a month to decide which of these players to pursue and which of these to watch on the news.
In fact, the aggressiveness at which certain NBA teams are pursuing trades has fueled a dispute, as many players feel they are being treated poorly, at the cost of business.
Regardless of who wanted it first, the player or the team, these players are in desperate need of a new home before the NBA trade deadline
In an NBA season with no fans, or very few to be exact, it may be difficult for certain players to feel “at home”. In the silence of an empty arena, it is easier to acknowledge one’s mistakes and the misfitting to a group of guys.
Whether they are trying to raise their value ahead of free agency or simply trying to reach their pre-draft ceiling, a trade to a new team is a matter of necessity to these players.
