Potential replacement No. 4: Mohamed Bamba

Once a very highly-ranked draft prospect, Mohamed Bamba has not managed to quite live up to his full potential as of yet. Stuck behind Nikola Vucevic due to his surprising and late bloom into stardom, Bamba’s chances on the floor have been very limited so far.

In the 121 games he’s appeared in so far for his career, Bamba is averaging just 14.4 minutes per game, which have mainly been during garbage time or foul trouble for Vucevic.

Even though his shooting percentages could sure use a boost, his per 36 numbers are actually not half bad. Mohamed Bamba needs a chance to shine and the Knicks could give him that at this very moment.

The New York Knicks had an initial interest in Mo Bamba prior to the 2018 NBA Draft, where he was selected with the 6th overall pick. There was even talk about the Knicks trading up the draft to acquire him. All that, of course, before selecting Robinson an entire round later, at 36.

Bamba is a New York native, Harlem to be exact, and moving to his hometown could boost his confidence enough to showcase the defensive monster we witnessed during his college days, playing for the Texas Longhorns.

Right now the Orlando Magic need guards and New York’s got a lot of ’em. Were the Knicks to revive their original interest in Bamba, then the two sides could rather easily agree upon a trade.
