Detroit Pistons – Sell

On the other end of the tanking spectrum, the Detroit Pistons have no concerns about losing their pick. They are starting off a rebuild this season so if they can get anything for some of their older players it makes sense to do so.

Blake Griffin is likely the one they want to trade the most but good luck with that. Derrick Rose has already been shipped out, signaling to those on the outside that the youth movement and asset accumulation remain the top priority.

Wayne Ellington has been one of the best shooters in the entire league after being one of the last players signed to the roster. Getting anything of note for him would have been seen as a coup prior to the season so nabbing a second-round pick would be a nice addition for Detroit.

Many teams could use his level of shooting on his contract, but the Philadelphia 76ers are the choice here. Rather than pursuing a more expensive option in J.J. Redick, they could add the hometown kid in Ellington who has been markedly better than Redick this season. They could either send back this year’s pick that they have from the New York Knicks or one of the team’s two second-rounders in the 2023 draft.
