Toronto Raptors – Sell

This is not just a hot take. The reports around a possible Kyle Lowry trade are still rumbling. The face of the franchise is in the final season of his mega-contract and the team is seemingly worse (3-0 without him) with him in the lineup.

Removing that hyperbolic take from the equation, the Raptors feel poised to be heading in a new direction. They are slowly starting to rack up wins but something still feels off. It might be time to pivot into the next generation of Raptors basketball. Even as an expiring contract the return for Lowry should be quite high.

If Lowry becomes available the Miami Heat and LA Clippers should be at the front of the line. Miami is monitoring the Bradley Beal situation but because Lowry is expiring he should not compromise any potential offseason maneuvering and would strengthen their push for another NBA Finals.

The Clippers fit is the most intriguing. They are desperate for some sort of playmaking. Starting Reggie Jackson to fill that need reeks of desperation for a team hoping to contend for a title. Lowry would take them over the top, reuniting him with his title teammates Kawhi Leonard and Serge Ibaka.
