Trade target No. 3 for the New York Knicks to avoid: J.J. Redick
Widely considered as one of the most efficient 3-point shooters of all-time, J.J. Redick has had quite the career so far in the NBA. During his 15-year career, he has worked hard enough to place himself within the top 15 in 3-pointers made in NBA history.
Unfortunately, J.J. is having one of the worst–if not the worst–seasons of his career in 2020-21. Shooting a career-low 34.0 percent from behind the arc, and averaging just 8.2 points per game, making it his lowest since 2008-09, it seems like father time has caught up to him.
Due to his playstyle, Redick has managed to have a very enduring career. For the majority of his career, Redick was either standing behind the 3-point line or running around behind screens trying to get open so he could receive the ball and let it fly.
But even the best of ’em reach a certain age where it’s harder to impact the game as much as they once used to. This, along with the fact that he carries along with him a large contract, makes him a bad trade target for the Knicks.
Were we dealing with a prime J.J. Redick from just a few short seasons ago, then maybe his addition would benefit the team a lot. His shooting abilities and scoring off the bench would have helped the Knicks a lot during these past few struggling seasons.
This year, though, the New York Knicks have seven players shooting a higher percentage than Redick. Is it really worth it to give up one of them and run the risk of messing with this team’s perfect chemistry?
