Team No. 2 that should pursue a trade for Victor Oladipo – New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans entered the NBA season with an immeasurable amount of hype surrounding them. Thus far, they have not lived up to expectations, currently sitting in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 10-12 record throughout 22 games. This team could certainly use reinforcements, and Oladipo is one name that comes to mind.

The Pelicans have been awful on both ends this season, ranking 12th in offensive rating and 23rd in defensive rating. They need a boost on both sides of the ball, and Oladipo could spark some life into this backcourt. Not only is he a proven scorer, but the guard is also a former All-Defensive honoree, both aspects this team desperately needs.

Much like the aforementioned Nuggets, New Orleans could also use a third star alongside their own pairing of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. The Pelicans traded away Jrue Holiday, who previously occupied this role, this offseason to the Milwaukee Bucks for a king’s ransom worth of assets. If the Pelicans were wisely trying to make a push to add another star, they could package some of these assets for someone like Oladipo.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania ($$) reported last week that the team was already in communication with opposing franchises about trades involving several members of their backcourt. With New Orleans actively trying to shed these players, perhaps packaging them alongside their bountiful amount of draft capital could entice a team like the Houston Rockets, who are looking to stock up for the future.
