New York Knicks: 5 teams that need a Julius Randle trade
Possible destination No. 4: Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns are a team that, similarly to the New York Knicks, have witnessed signs of improvement lately after a long drought of mediocrity and tanking. Truth is, they seem to have one-upped the Knicks and are now a legitimate playoff team.
An area of improvement for Devin Booker’s team has to be the starting power forward spot. Over the years, the Suns have tried their luck with many young bigs. Marquese Chriss, Dragan Bender, Dario Saric and Frank Kaminsky are the first names that pop to mind.
The potential arrival of Julius Randle would help put an end to this fiasco. In Phoenix, Randle would not have to be the main scorer of the team and Chris Paul’s playmaking skills would create an even better atmosphere for a rising superstar like Booker.
As one would rightfully expect, years and years of tanking usually result in obtaining a large number of young players. Due to the fact that Booker has almost reached superstar levels, the Suns might be willing to part ways with some of the other low-profile youngsters.
More specifically, two forwards that would fit Thibodeau’s system are Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson, both of which have seen an increase in playing time this season, though are in no way solidified Suns players.
A potential draft pick could be included in the trade, despite Phoenix’s almost certain playoff appearance rendering it a late first-round pick. Don’t forget that Immanuel Quickley is the outcome of the Marcus Morris trade to the LA Clippers.
