The Houston Rockets made a franchise-altering move when they shipped James Harden off to the Brooklyn Nets last month in a monstrous four-team deal. They were certainly well-compensated for dealing away their superstar guard, setting themselves up nicely for the future with a plethora of draft assets.
Although the future appears bright, this team is starting to click in the present as well. The Rockets have won six consecutive games, partially thanks to their top-tier defensive play. Since trading away Harden, the Rockets have been one of the best teams defensively in the association, and the results are piling up. Currently sitting in the final playoff spot in the jam-packed Western Conference standings with a 10-9 record, the front office has some difficult decisions to make in the coming weeks.
The Houston Rockets could trade away several key rotational players ahead of the NBA’s upcoming March 25th trade deadline.
Even with the Rockets having granted Harden his wish to be traded, they might not be done making trades just yet. With the NBA trade deadline slated for March 25th, Houston has several pieces on their roster that opposing teams have expressed interest in through various reports. If the Rockets believe they can cash in on these assets and stock up on more future draft capital, anything might be on the table. However, given how well this team has played recently, a push for the postseason is legitimately in the cards if they keep this current roster intact.
If the Houston Rockets decided to blow it up and build for the future, opposing organizations would be on the phone looking to make a deal for some of their key rotational pieces. While only time will tell, here are the three Rockets likeliest to be dealt to a new team before March 25th.
