5. Boston Celtics Big 3: Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker

There are two kinds of big 3s; the first kind is where they fit together perfectly and it produces at a high level. The second kind is where the best three players are so talented that it must be considered a big 3 — the Boston Celtics lie in the second category.

Kemba Walker is one of the better point guards in the league and Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are both All-Star candidates this season.

The reason they are in fifth is because of Walker’s health, at the time of writing Walker has played less than 10 games and Walker’s knee has been and always will be a concern for the Celtics front office.

The Celtics currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference and if healthy they can be the Eastern Conference Finals contender as they have been for the past couple of seasons.

4. Utah Jazz: Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley Jr.

They may not be the flashiest or most talented big 3 but the Utah Jazz‘s big 3 are an extremely effective group.

Mike Conley is finally starting to look like his old Memphis self. Conley is averaging 16.6 points per game and almost six assists per game while Donovan Mitchell is still a bucket getter and averaging 23 points per game.

The guy who leads this team though is a two-time defensive player of the year Rudy Gobert. He’s a double-double every night and is currently averaging 2.8 blocks per game, Gobert helps the Jazz on both ends of the court in ways that very few players can.

To the chagrin of Zach Lowe, Rudy Gobert leads the league in screen assists and is the example of a paint protector in today’s game.

The Jazz are top five in both Offensive and Defensive rating and are third in Net Rating per NBA.com/stats. The Jazz has started off as one of the best teams in the league and currently sit with the top three spots in the Western Conference.

With the Celtics and Jazz out of the way, who ranks third among the NBA’s best trios?
