The New York Knicks have been a pleasant surprise this season. At 9-12, they’re sitting in the ninth seed, positioned for the play-in if the season was to end today. They’re a young team but they’re a piece away if they want to make a run for the playoffs.

That piece could come in the form of Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal, and Knicks forward Julius Randle could be the price to get him to New York.

Julius Randle could be the perfect piece in a Knicks trade for Bradley Beal

Beal still has no interest in getting traded by the Wizards and it appears that he wants to be one of those stars that gets to play his whole career in one place, but at a certain point the organization needs to understand that the time for their own reset is drawing nigh. He’s leading the NBA in scoring at 34.9 points per game, and his value may never be higher than it is right now.

As for Randle, he’s had a spectacular season so far himself, and he’s been an ideal fit with new Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau. Randle is an All-Star candidate this season (a distinction Beal didn’t achieve last season in spite of averaging 30.5 points per game) and like Beal, could be at the peak of his own trade value.

Let’s take a look at a trade proposed by TradeNBA user Vish to illustrate just what a deal between the Knicks and Wizards involving these players might look like. You can visit his trade page here and give it an upvote while you’re at it.

As described in Vish’s trade proposal, the Wizards would also get the Knicks’ 2021 and 2023 first-round picks, as well as the Dallas Mavericks’ 2021 and 2023 first-round picks.

Let’s take a look at how this trade would work for both teams, starting with the New York Knicks.
