NBA Trade Rumors: Ideal spot for Lonzo Ball – LA Clippers

The LA Clippers are undoubtedly among the NBA’s top-tier contenders, but they are not perfect. It was evident after last year’s postseason run that the Clippers needed a playmaking floor general, and they boldly did not add one this offseason. Now, as trade season heats up, they should join in on the Lonzo Ball sweepstakes.

Ball’s strongest attribute is certainly his playmaking capabilities, averaging 6.4 assists per game throughout his first 177 games in the league. With most of LA’s playmaking duties currently being handled by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, this team needs a player like Lonzo Ball to help alleviate that pressure. The guard could also bring aboard another well-rounded defender to a roster already stocked full of them.

Much like the aforementioned Redick, Ball could also certainly use a change of scenery. The guard is averaging career-lows in several categories across the board, and receiving a fresh start elsewhere could be rejuvenating. The LA Clippers are particularly a compelling destination because they are in that upper echelon of title contenders. Playing in that environment could potentially turn his game up a notch, which he could use at this moment to bolster his upcoming free agency value.

On top of all that, he is relatively affordable for this team to make a move for before the deadline. Making an expiring $11 million in salary, the Clippers could piece together a potential offering for Ball without breaking the bank.
