NBA Trade Rumors: Ideal spots for Lonzo Ball, JJ Redick, Eric Bledsoe
By Dalton Sell
It appears relatively clear that the New Orleans Pelicans will be sellers at this year’s NBA trade deadline. The Pelicans are currently an abysmal 7-11 to start the season, sitting at 14th place in the Western Conference standings. Although this team picked up a fantastic win against the Milwaukee Bucks Friday night, they are still stuck in no man’s land in the standings and are reportedly looking to make some moves on the trade market.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania ($$) kicked off the rumor frenzy when he reported earlier this week that opposing teams have been calling about the availability of Lonzo Ball and JJ Redick. Charania added that the Pelicans have expressed openness in moving either of them, and they could certainly be hot commodities for teams looking to bulk up their backcourt. Furthermore, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst discussed on The Jump that the Pelicans have also been active in trying to move starting point guard Eric Bledsoe.
The New Orleans Pelicans could reportedly be looking to move three of their backcourt members ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Windhorst noted that the Pelicans want to open the door for the young tandem of Kira Lewis Jr. and Nickeil Alexander-Walker as they focus on the youth of the roster. Shedding the three aforementioned targets above would certainly allow them to do just that, but it remains to be seen whether general manager David Griffin will be able to get them off the books.
Teams have seemingly already begun to express interest, and it could only be a matter of time before a trade comes to fruition. With that being said, here are ideal trade destinations for JJ Redick, Eric Bledsoe, and Lonzo Ball before the March 25th deadline.
