NBA Power Rankings Week 6: Are the Los Angeles Lakers on top?
By Corey Rausch
Last Week: 1/24 vs. Sacramento Kings (POSTPONED), 1/25 vs. Sacramento Kings (POSTPONED), 1/27 VS. Chicago Bulls (POSTPONED), Beat San Antonio Spurs 129-112
This Week: 2/1 at San Antonio Spurs, 2/2 at Indiana Pacers, 2/4 vs. Houston Rockets, 2/6 at New Orleans Pelicans
How far can you really dig in on a team that had three games postponed and finally took the court on the last day of the week? Well, comfortably beating a San Antonio Spurs team that had handled the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets this week at least allows for some increased optimism for the Memphis Grizzlies.
It was actually a perfect epitome of what the Memphis Grizzlies have been this season. Seven players scored in double digits and only one, De’Anthony Melton, hit 20. The Grizzlies are so well rounded and are being rewarded for stellar drafting over the last few years.
Xavier Tillman was one of the few players not to reach double figures but he remains a solid contributor while Jonas Valanciunas remains out due to health and safety protocols. Desmond Bane continues to make teams look silly for allowing him to slide so far.
The Grizzlies are for real and that gets more evident every time they play. This is not just the Ja Morant show, as good as he is. He is still picking his spots and playing limited minutes and the team is still winning. Teams need to take their shots before he is fully back because he has already shown what he can do at his best.
