Zach LaVine is a rising star

In 1996 the NBA commemorated its 50th anniversary by naming the 50 greatest players in league history. A young player who’d just completed his fourth year in the league was added to the list and many pundits questioned why. Sure he was brimming with potential, but did his shortlist of accomplishments earn him a place among the league’s all-time greats? That player was Shaquille O’neal. Whether he’d earned it to that point or not is debatable, but he would go on to make those who included him on the list look like fortune tellers.

The fact is, Zach LaVine is unquestionably a rising star in the NBA. Leaving him out of this year’s All-Star game would be a disaster from a marketing standpoint if nothing else. When fans thought they’d seen all the dunk contest could possibly have to offer, LaVine put on two of the best displays of creativity in history. He’s not afraid of the bright lights and he performs well on the big stage. It’s time for him to be an All-Star.

Before Joe Pesci stole the show as Tommy in “Goodfellas” he was an unknown up-and-comer playing Robert De Niro’s little brother in “Raging Bull.” No matter what the industry, every major contributor needs their first big break. Zach Lavine has earned his spot on this year’s All-Star team but the NBA owes it to themselves to make sure he’s there. Fans who aren’t aware of him are sure to stay tuned once they witness his scoring ability against the other elite players in the league. It’s time to give LaVine his breakout role.
