New York Knicks trade target No. 5: Derrick Rose

Be a Knicks fan, don’t be a Knicks fan. Be a Derrick Rose fan, don’t be a Derrick Rose fan. If you are a true fan of the game of basketball, the potential reunion of Tom Thibodeau and Derrick Rose should give you the chills.

A small detail many people forget, Rose was once a member of the New York Knicks, back in 2016-17. Tom Thibodeau has coached Derrick Rose on two separate occasions. Let’s see how both of these stints went.

During his first term as a young prodigy with the Chicago Bulls, Rose became the youngest MVP in NBA history, at 22 years of age. Years later, that time on the Minnesota Timberwolves, Thibodeau helped D-Rose revive his career where he blossomed into a potent 3-point shooter and valuable sixth man.

It should come as no surprise that the New York Knicks will try to acquire Rose and reunite this very successful duo in New York. Now on an expiring contract and at the age of 32, trading for Rose will be easier than ever.

To be fair, the only assets that had to be sacrificed back in 2016 were Jerian Grant, Robin Lopez and Jose Calderon. These Detroit Pistons, who traded away Andre Drummond in exchange for a few nickels and a worn-out button, would be the perfect trade partner for the New York Knicks.
