LA Clippers: Trade target No. 2 – Derrick Rose, Detroit Pistons

Derrick Rose has been one of the hottest names on the trade market in recent memory, and he was even attached to the LA Clippers via rumors last season. The fit made sense then, and it still does now, which is why Charania mentioned in the previous reporting that LA remains interested in the guard right now.

Much like the aforementioned Ricky Rubio and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Derrick Rose finds himself in a similar situation with the Detroit Pistons. As Detroit shifts towards a youth movement, the 32-year-old Rose is playing just 23.4 minutes per game, the second-fewest in his entire career. In that time, the former league MVP is putting up 14.7 points and 4.5 assists per game, both significant step backs from last season.

Still, Rose will be one of the most coveted players potentially available as the trade market inches closer, and contending teams will be in hot pursuit. Rose would provide the LA Clippers with that ballhandling and playmaking guard that they need while simultaneously contributing a solid scoring punch as well.

Slated to make $7.7 million for the remainder of this season, Rose is an affordable option for any team looking to bolster their backcourt. The LA Clippers happen to be near the top of that list of suitors, and Derrick Rose should be highly-regarded in their ongoing search.
